The Director

Roy S. Kelley is a graduate of the University of Vermont. He has served the educational field as a music specialist for 31 years. On the Master’s level, he has studied choral conducting with Lorna Cooke de Varon at the New England Conservatory of Music. Along with his continuing study of the pipe organ, Roy attends the annual Richner-Strong Church Music Institute at Colby College in Waterville, Maine.

Roy served as President of the New England Chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association and is also on the Membership Committee of the Boston Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

Roy assumed the duties of director of the Snug Harbor Community Chorus in September 2001. Roy founded the Charles River Chorale, Millis, MA in 1985 and is the Artistic Director. Since 1995, Roy is the Organist/Choirmaster for The Parish of St. John the Evangelist in Duxbury.

In between his duties with the Snug Harbor Community Chorus, the Charles River Chorale and St. John’s Church, he spends time growing up ‘again’ with his grandchildren Nicholas, Jacob and Hunter.
